Personal Choices for a Positive Impact on the Earth

The actions that we take in our day-to-day lives can have a significant impact upon our enavironment: here in our local community, in the Chesapeake Bay watershed and in the greater world. These are a few EcoStewards projects in which your choices can make a difference.

Turn The Tide
Turn The Tide Turn the Tide is a program of nine simple changes you can make and actually measure the results of your choices. An online calculator shows the combined effect of all participants in the program. Find out more about how these actions benefit our area and join in!

Indoor Composting
Indoor Composting

If you have a bit of space in a kitchen corner, closet or laundry, you can recycle fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, eggshells and other organic matter into rich, nutrient-laden fertilizer for your houseplants or garden.

Using Red Wriggler worms in a leak-proof, odor-free bin, you can create compost out of items that might otherwise go into your trash. The EcoStewards Alliance has published an amusing, detailed booklet with clear and easy instructions to set up a worm bin of your very own. You may order this book from us or purchase your copy at one of our events.
